Curriculum

Our Student Creed

To build true confidence through: Knowledge in the Mind, Honesty in the Heart, and Strength in the Body.

To keep friendship with one another, and to build a Strong and Happy Community.

Never fight to achieve selfish ends, but to develop...

...Might for Right!

The creed is recited at the beginning of every class and each student (ages 4 and up) must individually recite the creed by memory to achieve their first White Belt. Lil Dragons (3 year olds) need to only recite lines 1 and 4. Please see an instructor if you have any questions

Dragons, Ninjas and Warriors have their own classes, while Teens and Adults take classes together. For Ninjas and up, classes are further divided by belt rank. We also offer a Family Class for ages 7 and up for parents who would like to take class with their children. For more information about class times, please see the class schedule.

Adapted TKD is for children with High Functioning Autism and other similar challenges. It is designed to introduce them to TKD and develop social skills, foster choice making and confidence, improve listening and following directions, improve flexibility as well as offer sensory appropriate activities. It is taught by Ms. Laura, a 2nd Degree Black Belt, and Ms. Robin, a special education teacher with over 10 years of experience with children on the autism spectrum. For more information about the Adapted TKD program, please see the Adapted TKD Info Flyer.

Kardio Kickboxing is offered at our Fair Oaks location, and is a great workout that incorporates TKD and boxing moves to music. Bag gloves are required for class. For more information about class, please see the kickboxing section.

Testing and Graduation

1st, 2nd and 3rd Stripe testing will be conducted during or after each regularly scheduled themed class. Please see the belt level requirements for specific instructions for each stripe. 4th Stripe testing will occur on a specified day, please refer to the monthly calendar and the graduation candidates list for specific dates and times.

You may only graduate to the next belt level after earning all four stripes and you will always be notified when you are nearing your graduation. To graduate you must turn in your TKD notebook (white and brown belts only), current report card, and intent to promote form (signed by parents and school teacher) with power goals completed. An oral or written exam is also required for all students on the day of 4th Stripe testing (refer to your specific belt requirement sheet). Students must wear their full uniform with patches properly sewn and also bring their equipment to 4th Stripe day.

All graduates must attend the graduation ceremony to receive their next belt and diploma. Graduation Rehearsal will begin 30 minutes before the graduation ceremony. If a student cannot attend their graduation, they should participate in the following month's graduation ceremony. Absent students will receive their new belt in their next class, and will receive their diploma at the graduation ceremony that they participate in.

The Black Belt Exam is a separate event which is conducted with Black Belt candidates only and is judged by a Black Belt panel of judges.

The requirement sheets and all belt level specific information can be found in the full Curriculum section.
