General Studio Information
Attendance
When you register for classes, a student card with your name and other information will be made. Each card is color coded according to the student's belt rank. This card is used to track your attendance at the school, and to determine eligibility for testing.
At the beginning of each class, each student should check in at the front counter by greeting the staff instructor. Usually at check-in, the instructor will pull the student's card and also monitor class attendance, checking to see if the student is ready for the next stripe of progression. All classes are recorded on the card including Sparring, Basics, Forms and Lower Rank (LR) classes. Only current belt level classes will be credited towards the student's advancement to the next belt level. Lower Rank classes are for review or to "Lead By Example" for others. .
When the student graduates to the next belt rank, the former card is given at graduation to add to their TKD notebook and a new color coded card is made. Students in the Beginner program may attend 2 classes per week, Black Belt Club and Masters Club students may attend unlimited classes.
Dressing/Rest Rooms and Cubby Area
There are two unisex rest rooms/changing rooms in the corner of the school across the floor mats. Parents and children should remove their shoes before walking across the mats. If you need to change, please allow enough time before the scheduled class time. All belongings including shoes should be placed in the cubby holes or shelves provided. Please do not leave valuables or any personal belongings in this area for any extended period of time. Please help us to keep the school clean and notify the staff if anything needs to be attended to. The staff and school are not responsible for any lost or stolen items left in the school.
Fair Oaks Kids Play Area
At our Fair Oaks location we have provided an area in the stairwell for parents with children to keep them busy during the student's class. Parents, please do not leave small children unattended. Cartoons, books, puzzles, scrap paper and crayons are provided in the black bins. Please help us keep this area neat and clean up after yourselves and your children.
Parent's Night Out Party
Once a month on a Friday from 7:30-10:30pm, parents may drop off their children for a fun party. Please refer to the calendar for specific dates. Friends, neighbors and siblings are welcome, but must be at least 4 years old. Please do not drop off until 7:15pm.
The Parents Night Out Party includes: fun games such as dodge ball, cheese pizza, and a movie of the month. Kids are guaranteed to have FUN!
Tae Kwon Do Notebook
High school students and below are required to keep a TKD notebook. This notebook is a great place to keep the student's papers organized as well as track their progress throughout their time here. Notebooks will be checked twice for organization and upkeep: first at 4th stripe testing at white belt and last at 4th stripe testing at brown belt.
Monthly School Calendar
Every month a school calendar is printed to inform students of any important events such as graduation, school closings, special classes and activities. Please be sure to read each month's calendar and place the current issue in your TKD notebook. Parents and students are also asked to read the Weekly Bulletin Boards located in the foyer and also near the water cooler for any changes or addition to the school calendar events. Please note the three theme weeks: Basics, Forms and Sparring.
